I Looked Out My Window and What Did I See?

March madness. For some people it means basketball.

For other people, it is a good excuse to dress up as a Littlest Pet Shop, clone trooper, and princess in polka dot rainboots and have a parade up and down the sidewalk in your neighborhood.

March madness can also involve those tricky little leprachauns. They manage to elude the traps the kids make and set every year but they do leave behind naughty sugar cereal, big Irish polyester hats, and gangsta style clover light up necklaces. (We have a really classy dollar store here in the hood!)

March madness always involves a day of crazy hair and socks.

March madness is the only explanation I can think of for the day I walked in the family room and found Pippi Longstocking frozen on my TV screen with a big green mustache placed in just the right place.

And I knew March madness had hit an all time low when I walked in to HB's bedroom and found Barbie all in a tizzy over the condition of her living quarters.

(And so help me...I swear I walked into HB's room and found Barbie with her hand over her nose. I did NOT pose her and her hand has not always been positioned in such a snotty way over her nose! But the living conditions were pretty bad!) I told Barbie to buck up and count her blessings...she could be living in the room next door!

March madness sometimes involves frogs. My family has always had a special affinity for the green amphibian...especially after my mother saw them flying through the air one night during a rainstorm while on a road trip through Nebraska.

And if you are very, very, very lucky...then March madness will include some amazing days romping around the city with cousins...oh what fun we had! We sincerely hope that cousin frolicking will become a permanent March madness tradition!!!

March madness may include fighting invisible aliens in the front yard with a big stick...and crazy socks...because it was crazy sock day at school...or maybe because crazy socks scare aliens.

This year March madness also included 5 really good friends competing in Knowledge Bowl at the district level. Go Killer Snowmen!!! You did an AWESOME job! (Super proud of these super smart boys who make being this smart really cool and fun!)

(We had a hard time finding "Killer Snowmen" shirts...but apparently "Abominable Snowmen" shirts were all the rage this year.)

Ah, March madness. Forget the basketball...we like to make our own kind of crazy!

Happy Spring.
