Happy Days!

Ah, summer.

I love the late nights and late mornings. I love the warmer weather where nothing is required except a t-shirt, flowy skirt and a pair of well-worn flip-flops. I love popsicles and watermelon and having no school. I like our life without all the distractions that the school year brings! It has been a good summer.

July started with lots of Carr family coming into town for the 4th of July. We LOVE spending time with family...especially cousins. My children live for the time they spend with cousins. It is always a jam-packed, fun few days when everyone is together.

We spent a great afternoon up in Park City one day. Summer is just not summer without an overpriced ride on an Alpine slide!

It has now become 4th of July tradition for all the cousins to ride on Uncle Josh's World War II tank in the Freedom Festival Grand Parade. This was HB's first year riding the tank...and I suspect it will not be her last. The kids love it!

View from the top of the tank along the parade route.

After the parade, we all congregate for buckets and buckets of KFC, rootbeer and lots of swimming.

I love, love, love this family that understands perfectly that you absolutely cannot run out of mashed potatoes and gravy...if one container is good than 25 containers must be paradise!!!

Tuckered out from all the wild festivities.

It has been sobering to watch and hear about all the wildfires that have been burning across the state of Utah. The scariest was the one that burned on the mountain right in our own "backyard".

Fun and games all day long...this sister-in-law has fabulous biceps...mine may be a little chubby but I do carry around an 18 pound chunk of delicious every day. We finally called it a tie and ate some more mashed potatoes and gravy.

During the time family was in time we tried to jam in as much "play" time as possible. Spent the afternoon shopping and lunching with the girls at City Creek one day...and HB explored the dancing fountains...and got DRENCHED in the process. Had to swing by H&M for dry clothes...

Another day the "big" cousins went and did a space mission at the local space center and the younger cousins opted for a very fancy tea party at our house. These girls know their fancy! They dressed up, made place mats, selected their teapots and cups, and held their pinkies up in the air the whole time.

Meanwhile the older cousins and a couple of friends protected the universe from hostile invaders.

The kids on board their space ship...

And of course any space adventure has to end with a sno-cone!

Wait a minute...how did this picture get in here? That IS my cute baby but I'm sure he isn't eating a sno-cone because what irresponsible mother would feed her 6 month old a sno-cone?! And he may or may not think that sno-cones are the greatest thing EVER...

So many more happy days to talk about...but we need to take a break...stay tuned for Part 2...

Shame on you! Not only do I want a snow cone right now, but I could probably eat 25 containers of mashed potatoes and gravy all by myself. And, playing with cousins is exactly what I would love to be doing today...that, or riding on a world war II tank.

Ayah fun fun fun". Don't let Melissa see the mash potatoes. She started craving them in our drive across the US.....that and A1 sauce. You will be happy to know we found both

Oh my goodness I want to kiss that baby right on his lucious lips! (And they may taste like Tiger's blood :)
So much fun. Someday I want to hear the logistics of getting the tank to the parade...do they drive it slowly through town to get it there? Is that awkward?
I feel guilty that your fun relaxed summer is going to take a drastic turn soon--to the tune of school starting and three extra kids.

I believe there is a semi truck that hauls that tank around... I am so sad I missed that parade! Next year for sure! I can attest to the fact that Amy and fam know how to have a fun summer. I'm just hoping we make it into one of her posts. We love finally being near them!
